Karachi :
March 8 has been recognized throughout the world as International Women’s Day. It is a day set to celebrate the struggles and the victories of women throughout the history and a day for women to put forward their demands.
The Working Women's Collective made demands for pregnancy leave, for a policy against the firing of pregnant women, to end child marriages and forced conversions, to increase the woman's political participation, to invest on women health care, to overcome the pay gap in factories and give them a right to make unions in their workplace.
International Women’s Day reminds us that the struggles of women have come a long way but we still have a long way to go. Comrade Naghma Sheikh, leader of democratic Youth Front (DYF) addressed the gathering of working women in Karachi.
